Although the priority interest of the AquaBOL.SK team is DNA (meta)barcoding of the aquatic fauna of Slovakia, our research activities are also expanding to land. Since September 2022, we have been working on an APVV project, which we have been awarded as the principal investigator, in collaboration with the Faculty of Natural Sciences Comenius University Bratislava and the National Agricultural and Food Centre. The project focuses on pollinator biodiversity. Of course, the methodology of DNA barcoding and metabarcoding remains the mainstay. In the project we are trying to obtain new and up-to-date data on the composition and diversity of the pollinators fauna of some agricultural crops by modern methods and thus contribute to the conservation of this group of animals, which is declining but vital for humanity.
